- Inspect Antifreeze- One of the major reasons of car engine getting overheated may be its antifreeze system becoming non functional. Make sure that coolant or antifreeze is available inside the radiator. Let it be mentioned over here that antifreeze of the car maintains a feasible temperature of the car engine. It prevents the car engine from getting freeze and overheated. If it is the summer season, then chances of antifreeze system going out of order can’t be ruled out warranting you to go for quick inspection of antifreeze system. You should inspect the car’s engine and its antifreeze system seeking to explore if something drips from it in a form liquid or material over the ground. If you find no coolant or other cooling mixture you should take prompt action to repair car’s antifreeze system so as to avoid car overheating during the long drive. If you notice something spewing from car engine it is a vivid sign of antifreeze system getting futile warning you of sudden overheating problem. Generally 2 gallons of coolant or cooling mixture is used to maintain feasible temperature of car’s engine and prevent the car from overheating. You should find out yourself whether the liquid inside the radiator is filled up to specific level or not. What I would like to draw your attention on is the absence of dripping material like liquid from the car engine. Despite noticing no any drippings you may find the antifreez of car engine non-functional making you encounter with car engine’s unwanted overheating.
If you notice that your car engine is likely to get overheated soon, stop it immediately and inspect car’s antifreeze system. Such type of situation needs precautionary steps on your part which will prevent your car from overheating and keep the health of engine in good condition during the long journey. You will have to complete your journey by halting your again and again car after some miles, letting the engine cool and set on your journey again until you reach your destination.
Though driving your car straight to the workshop is the only solution you can check the engine from getting overheated by noting the meter’s indicator reaching close to “H”. If you notice that engine of car is likely to get overheated you should stop and set on journey after refreshing your car by letting it cool. After reaching your destination you should replace the existing non-functional antifreeze with the new one keeping in view your next car journey.
- Cooling Fan– Another way of preventing car engine from getting overheated is cooling fan, situated near the radiator. The fan functions through the sensors regulating the engine.
- A.C. Fan– Some cars happen to be equipped with air conditioner and it is the speed of A.C.’s compressor which sets fan to run and keep the engine cool. Besides, few cars equipped with two fans perform cooling functions (one meant for radiator and another for the air conditioner) preventing the engine of car from getting overheated. Radiator fan prevents the car engine from overheating, while the A.C. fan (also known as condenser fan) enhances the efficiency of the air conditioner.
- Natural Inflow of Air– If your car is not so advanced with electric cooling system, a belt driven fan will cool the engine of your car. It will inflow sufficient airflow and thus prevent the car engine from getting overheated. If even the belt-driven inflow of air does not cool the engine of your car you should dwell on coolant’s circulation as it has a crucial role to play to make the engine of your car cool and perform efficiently.
