It’s been two weeks and it’s still yellow, also I played with it a little and there’s a red bunmp in the front, which I read is an irritation. Anything I can take to help it go away?

It’s such a comfort to read that the film and ring are part of the normal healing process.
To Andy;
You have your tongue pierced twice? As in two piercings? How does that work?

Its quite a comfort to know the yellow film is just part of the healing process. Nevertheless, it looks horrible, so is there any way to get rid of it? Or how long does it typically last?
I’m getting mine done a couple of hours before my history exam on wednsday.. prob not a smart idea, but does anyone recomend any pain killers??

I got my touge pierced a week ago today. The whitish film looks hrrible, but other than that, the swelling is pretty much gone and I ha a great thanksgiving (real fod and everything). Advil, Motrin or anyanti-inflamatory works great for the swelling an pain. Tylenol works pretty well too
I just got my tongue pierced today and when I tell you that I’m hungrier than a dry mouthed dog, I’m hungry. OMG! What am I going to do for thiese several days? Somebody please give advice!
Thanks!!!!
soup soup soup soup soup!!!!!
not chicken thou it gets stuck in ur bar :S
hey i got my tongue pierced just yesterday…. and im lost on what i can eat?? and when can i change my barbell???
eat soft foods, avoid dairy products, don’t eat hot foods, and make sure you wash your mouth at least 4 times a day with diluted mouth wash. you should be able to change it within 3-4 wks or at least thats what my piercer told me, i changed it anyways, but had no problems whatsoever. it all depends on how ur tongue reacts to have a piece of metal shoved thru it.
I have found that soup is a good one to go for…but not chicken soup thou it has bits in it and they get stuck in ur bar :S
i had my tongue pierced for the first time a couple months back, i had it for only 3 days because i developed canker sores all throughout my mouth. i took it out and let it heal. then i got my tongue pierced again last friday, the swelling lasted me like 2 days, and i had already put a clear retainer in for my job, and then put my long bar back in. i wash my mouth with dilated mouthwash at least 4 times a day. i had a small white piece of skin in front of my piercing. it looked like a swollen taste bud, i removed it with tweezers and no pain. i am able to eat almost anything from chips to sodas and spicy foods and no problems! i love having the piercing and its definately worth the small amount of pain!
SO you just tweezed the “swollen tastebud” off and the pain stopped? Because I have the same thing, and I was thinking of doing that but didn’t want to irritate it more or anything. I got it done Thursday afternoon. Should I try or just leave it alone?
ive had my tongue pierced today for the second time ( i have two piercings in it) i was told to wash my mouth out with salt water…. for my first tongue piercing i did nothing. and it turned out fine. i would suggest just getting a moouthwash tbf. salt water makes me gag. so isnt really a good idea for me.
I got my tongue pierced like 3 days ago, its yellow and I am happy to find its normal, but there is like this round imprint behind the barbell…and I am told its from the ring resting on this spot…anyone else have that?
yes I do…I called my piercer up and he said that is natural :)…dont worry i was gettin worried myself
yeahh i have it too ! and im glad that its natural but will it come off when its fully healed?
I’ve had my Tongue pierced for ten days now and all swelling is gone and there is no pain. Is it too soon to eat curry like foods and change the bar?? x

) but my sister in law (she has her’s pierced) said that the whiskey would increase the bleeding. What specific things is it ok to drink and NOT ok to drink? Is it bad to have a monster or redbull? I got my tongue pierced on friday (January 29, 2010) and im glad to hear the yellowish film is normal, but i have this huge lump on the inside of my tongue around the piercing, my brother told me to squeeze it to make sure it’s not a build-up of puss, i did that, it hurt like hell, but nothing came out, any idea as to what it could be? or is it from the swelling?

i got my tongue pierced 2-17-10 and its now 2-18-10 at 4:30 in the morning. i really shouldve eatin before i got it done and now im starving and have heartburn because im so hungry. i did manage to eat some jello & a jar of baby food but it made my tongue burn

I pierced my tongue 3 days ago and based on what I’ve read from other peoples comments it healing pretty normally but one thing I didn’t read is about a sour taste in my mouth everytime I swallow, is that normal? Take note that I’ve been eating lime sherbet cuz it feel good but the taste doesn’t taste like sherbet, it taste more acidic almost like lemon, it doesn’t look infected its not even swollen anymore, I’m just getting freaked out by the sour aftertaste anyone know what’s going on? Thanks
I got my tounge pierced four days ago.. Feb.23.10.. the swellen is now gone but still feel a lil sorness.. not much.. just a little.. like i barely feel it.. its good to no that the white ring around the barbell isnt bad.. my boyfriend was kinda of worried.. i figured it was a part of the healing process.. i havent had the yellow problem.. im eatin pretty good.. just have to chew slow due to the big barbell.. but they say at10 day minum but 14 days to be safe before puttin in a smaller one.. ice works good for the swelling.. freeze pops.. pop sickles.. which ever one works.. but it doesnt help with the pain just swelling.. for the pain you can use pain pills those are helpful.. avoid hot and spicy foods.. drink lots of cold water (ice water) try not to talk as much that helps for faster healing.. noodles.. plain soup.. and mashed potatoes are foods that would be eaiser to eat.. rinse mouth with mouth wash after eating or drinking anything thats not water.. its ok to brush your teeth and your tounge just be gentle..
THATS MY EXPRIENCE WITH MY TOUNGE RING STILL HAVE A WAYS TO GO BUT SO FAR SO GOOD
hey, i got my tongue pierced on Monday march 1st. and I’m trying to adapt to it but i just cant. plus i haven’t eaten much since i got it and my stomach is very mad at me. i tried eating soup but it burned. i tried eating pop tarts, that burned too. but i have an important question, the guy that pierced my tongue said i could smoke cigarettes but wash my mouth out with mouthwash after every cigarette, is that true? can i smoke still?
my tongue is still swollen but i don’t feel that much pain. is there anything i can do, or take that will help the swelling.??
