Tongue Sores Causes And Treatment

Tongue, being a sensitive organ of our body, helps us have the taste, crush the foods efficiently and swallow them easily for better digestion. It helps us speak as well extemporaneously. But the sores, affecting our tongue, often become a biggest impediment on our way in uttering even a single word, consuming the foods and oftentimes drinking water as well, a greatest complication for the people to tolerate.

The tongue sores appear over the tongue with in a few days of an infection caused by a virus. An individual, affected from tongue sores, experiences inflammation or a burning sensation over the skin of his tongue, resulting into a loss of appetite and fever as well. Occurring only inside the mouth, the sores affect the tongue and throat. Sores, being bumpy in shape and white or red in color, cause a great difficulty for the people in eating, chewing, drinking and swallowing. Pain or burning sensation, affecting a whole part of mouth, either causes a continuous inflammation or intermittent pain or burning sensation, just depending upon the sensitivity of skin of mouth and tongue.

Though all the painful sores happen to be red in color, some are found in yellow and dark colors as well, usually known as ulcers, causing lesions-like impression over the roof and walls of mouth. Being a sensitive part of our body, the tongue happens to be too susceptible to the impacts of teeth, bite and infection that may cause lesions over our tongue, commonly termed as tongue sores. Broken filling of inside the mouth also causes wounds, commonly known as mouth or tongue sores. People, consuming certain spicy foods and acidic fruits, like the pineapple, experience a great burning sensation or a pain over their tongue which substantiates the emergence of tongue sores.

The sores, causing pain and inflammation inside the mouth, is also known as glossodynia. Sores may affect tongue, lips and palate(roof of the mouth). Pain or burning sensation, affecting whole part of mouth, either causes a continuous inflammation or intermittent pain or burning sensation, depending upon the sensitivity of skin of mouth and tongue.

The tongue sores, affecting the children, swells their tongue and changes natural color of tongue into strawberry and raspberry color. The mouth or tongue sores cause among the children a fever accompanied by dehydration, syphilis, thrush, lichen planus and leukoplakia. Although all the tongue sores, appearing in white and red color, cause a pain and burning sensation, some of them do not cause any pain, except changing the color of affected skin.

An individual, suffering from a prolonged inflammation over his tongue, should consult a doctor immediately as the possibility of a cancer cant be ruled out in such syndrome. Only a doctor can reveal if the burning sensation or lesions inside the mouth substantiates tongue sores and can administer a suitable remedy to deal with the problem.

Besides, the people affected from tongue skin feel a discomfort while brushing their teeth and chewing the gums. Excessive use of antibiotic drugs also causes tongue sores, by affecting the balance of bacteria inside the mouth which paves the way for over-growth of  fungus(Candida), aka thrush. People gargling with chemical mouth-wash are most likely to suffer from tongue sores

Sensitivity of tongue skin to a few consumable and chewable items, containing the additives or preservatives like sorbic acid, benzoic acid, propylene glycol, chicle and cinnamon also cause tongue sores, which an individual should try to avoid in order to prevent sores from affecting their tongue.

Deficiencies of several vitamins like B12, folic acid, B-complex and Iron also contribute to a great extent in causing mouth infection and tongue sores among the people. In order to deal effectively  with tongue sores, the people should have healthy foods only, rich in vital elements, a need of body.

Have plenty of water regularly in order to provide your mouth with sufficient moisture. Though some people believe that chewing-gum can help them have relief from a burning sensation of tongue sores, this actually is not the fact as it can cause more lesions over the tongue and other affected parts of the mouth, exacerbating the complication of sores much further.

I was brishing my teeth this morning when I went to brush my tounge, my mouth started to bleed, and it was a very painful and uncomfortable thing. I called my mother into the bathroom and she was in total shock. I have leopard printed sores on my tongue. They look horrible. I am not to sure what the problem may be. I take Tramadol on a daily basis and I smoke. My prescription does not say that mouth sores are a side effect, but I am clueless as to what the problem could be. It could be the cigarettes but I have been smoking for 12 years. I am going to the Dr tomorrow but I didnt know if anyone would know if the pain pills could cause it?Can someone help?? Thanks

I have had a sore throat ever since i had mono in February. Right now i have a sore throat yet again and have sores on my tongue, under my lip and above my top lip. I don’t know what is wrong with me but i’m in horrible pain all the time! The doctors just say it’s a virus and it will go away within 12-14 days, it does but then just comes right back again. Any ideas on what it might be or any treatments. I’ve tried gargling salt water, i use campho-phenique on my sores, and spray this numbing stuff on my throat yet nothing works. Please help!

Kiddy and nonacademic way of phrasing oral sex. A virus need not stay south of the border if the climate is right north. HPV is just one example of a virus that can spread from genitalia to the mouth from practicing unsafe fellatio and cunnilingus. Safe meaning the use of a condom while performing oral.

people grow up. yes, infections that can affect this issue can be spread via various channels, including genital contact with less traditional positions between sexual partners. the important thing here is to be aware of the issue, the POSSIBLE causes and the things people can do to help themselves

  12. Herb medicine says:

When I was growing up, I would often have them if I ate too much of fried foods or spicy foods. And I would ask my parents. My parents gave me a type of herb tea which was already packaged and ready to mix with hot water. It’s a fantastic tea made of asian herbs. You can drink if you have a cold, don’t feel well, for mouth sores, little things like that. You can purchase it in most Asian supermarkets. It’s pronounced :” Liang Chai”. It’s not a type of green tea.
There are different kinds of tea when purchasing, some for specifically colds and such, but if encounter a lot, you can just choose the general one. Or ask someone in the supermarket.
In Chinese culture and medicine the foods we eat are divided into 2. Cold foods and hot foods. You can google it. If you eat too much cold food you can get sick, and for hot food also. Pears, apples, vegetables ice cream are cold foods. ( Just a few examples). And hot foods are beer, fried, spicy foods, longans (type of fruit). If you eat too much ice cream you can get a cold or just get sick. If you drink too much beer, you’re body could heat up, overheat, become drunk therefore resulting in hangovers and vomiting. These are just a few examples, best to google it up if you don’t believe it. This is the way of eating of most East Asians, mostly the Chinese. And it’s been around for whenever China started.
    It’s long, but I hope it helps! = )

  13. Amanda says:

Mouth Sex = Oral Sex So if someone has genital herpes and puts their penis or vagina into someone else’s mouth, they will get herpes of the mouth.

To the person who has the sores under the nose and below the lip, these are called cold sores, or mouth herpes. You should consult your physician and ask if you can go on an antibiotic called Valtrex. You take two pills at the first sign of a sore, and two more 12hrs later. The sore will stop growing and will go away in a few days. Keep them on hand for when this happens. That is what I do and it works great.

And just so people know, just because you have mouth herpes does not mean you got it from giving oral sex. Mine came from my father’s side of the family. They occasionally got them when I was a child, and think they transferred to virus to me by kissing me (we are italians so we always kiss). The virus can lay dormant inside your body and either never show on skin, or can come out.

    • Scott says:

Is it possible to have both oral and vaginal sex and get Herpes of the tongue only. I have had a small painful bump on the end of my tongue for 4 months. It hasn’t shown any signs of going away. There is also a burning sensations on my tongue as well.

  14. sam says:

every time my wisdom teeth starts to hurt which is like once every 3 moths, i get mouth sores and soar throat, i dont understand why!

  15. Rachel says:

I get sores on my tongues that are a side effect of medication. They cause a burning sensation over the entire tongue. The first time I experienced this, I thought I had burnt my tongue. I use Gly Oxide. You can get it at Drug Stores and it’s a drip you put on your tongue and it helped mine. I also rinse with salt water and my doctor prescribed a sort of vaseline like cream to help them heal.
