Could tongue ulcers result from chronic sinus infection and nasal drip?

i think it could, i have both of those things, often resulting in throat infection and i think tongue ulcers. kind of a mouth infection.
I have a spot on my tongue for the last 4 years,it doesnt hurt.Am a smoker!Should I go to a dentist or a doctor to have it checked out.Am terrified after reading some of your articles Thanks!
