A Little About Tongue Herpes

Protuberances caused over tongue due to viral infection are termed as tongue herpes. The herpes affecting a tongue can also be described as a traumatic condition of a tongue experiencing painful blisters over the mucus membranes and some of its surrounding regions inside the mouth. The individuals affected from herpes of tongue should not take their herpes lightly as it may be a sign of oral cancer being painful in nature. The herpes can also be depicted as a viral disease causing watery lesions over a tongue and causing pain, tenderness and inflammation to the affected individuals.

The herpes actually is a contagious disease mostly affecting the mucus membranes of some a specific parts of mouth. Types of tongue herpes

There are two types of herpes virus causing an embarrassing condition for the affected individual, that is herpes simplex virus 1(HSV1) and herpes simplex virus 2(HSV2). HSV1 is transmitted through the oral sex or stormy kissing or sharing a foods or drinks through a same spoon, while the HSV2 is transmitted through sexual intercourse. Be whatsoever type of herpes, it affects mostly the mucus membranes of the mouth and tongues causing thereon inflammation, swelling and watery blisters and often prove to oral cancer. However, there are a few other herpes as well affecting mostly the tongue of individual. Have a look at them….. 

  • Papilloma Herpes- Also known as oral tumor it actually is a dreaded disease, that is, oral cancer affecting the tongue of the males. Caused by Papilloma virus it causes a pain to the affected individuals. Those who are found smoking and using tobacco for several years are affected from such types of herpes which affects their tongue in a form of oral cancer. Those experiencing tumor, swelling and inflammation should consult a doctor immediately.
  • Stevens Johnson Syndrome- It also is critical condition of herpes affecting the tongue due to excessive usage of drugs such as antibiotics, anticonvulsants and pain killers.
  • Hairy tongue- It is long hairy condition of herpes emerging over the taste buds of tongue. Such critical condition of herpes-affected tongue accrues due to lack of oral hygiene, oral infection, use of tobacco and smoking. It often turns into cancer affecting mostly the neck and other parts of tongue causing inflammation and pain. The individuals susceptible to such type of tongue herpes should maintain oral hygiene and keep their mouth healthy brushing two to three times a day.
