Abigail what is the name of the cream? My break outs are spreading very fast. Not sure how much longer I can live with this, Everything seems to burn my skin, sun, water , sweat, flouresent light, soft white light, even the light from tv and computer. I can't find a doctor who has ever seen this, they told me they can't do anymore for me after 3 rounds of steroids

This is so helpful. Thanks Jucole. I have been taking my child to my pediatrician for almost a year with the same diagnosis. I will be doing more research which by the way this is suppposed to be done by the pediatrician. I cant imaging why a so called "doctor" was not able to diagnose him. Jucole, I bet you are not taking your child to the same pediatrician, right?
Anyway once again thank you I will try my best to follow your advice and maybe pay a visit to Dr Rapport ( too bad he lives in CA)

My son's seborrheic dermatitis which he had at about 1 month old turned into spongiotic dermatitis from excessive topical steroid use. His idiotic doctor thought that he just had classic eczema but with seborrheic dermatitis, steroids can result in dependency. We found out like 4 mos after continous use all over from neck down what was in the compound when we couldn't withdrawal him from it. We have found a doctor in CA by the name of Dr. Marvin J. Rapport who has been really helpful. Every other doctor we've seen kept telling us to continue the steroids & that he was probably allergic to something. We tapered our son for 6 months noticing all kinds of side effects from the steroids. His eye lids were even swelling & inflaming from the topical steroids. Its been 2 months since we withdrew him & his eye lids haven't swelled once since we withdrew. His flare-ups keep coming though. He'll get a couple of days break here and there but we haven't seen a great improvement yet. This rash has even spread into his scalp. I think it's very painful & itchy, but he's had it almost his whole life so I guess thats why he can tolerate it a little bit. Anyways we currently give him oatmeal baths every night along w/ benadryl before bedtime & moisturize his entire body with vaseline 4-5 times a day.
My second son had the same rash at 2-4 weeks of age & we simply used vaseline, kept him in loose clothing, & in a cool environment & his rash disappeared by time he was 5-6 months old.
Dr. Rapaport thinks it will take 6-12 months for the side effects to go away.

Hope this helps sincerely,
Jucole

My husband is currently diagnosed with spongiotic dermatits, he has it quite bad and
all over his body, he was prescribed with Aterax tablet and Dovate Cream, it does not
really help, is there any other solution for this allergy?
