my friend is 13 and she has her belly button and she doesnt believe its going to get infected she peirced it herself 2 days ago and her ears
1. she doesnt wear earrings
2. she has nothing to put in her ear or her belly button
3. her parents dont know

navel is so sensitive… so take care of it…
make sure navel is always dry
i have experience that too 3 to 4 times and it heals
it just coming back wen i accidentally scratch
just drink anti biotics and make it dry and never used fitted shorts…
yes indeed she is i did that about 2 years ago and had a big prob with it it didnt want to heal and my belly button was red and irettated. take advise from an idot tell her not to do it she should ask her mom and dad to let it be done by someone that knows how to do it.
my belly button is infected really bad. I have been using ointment doctors give me. I never had it peirced. I have redness,sorness,yellow discharge and the smell. and it still hurts like hell. can someone help me?

It sounds like scar tissue I was told if you rub vitimin e oil on it, it will help break up that scar tissue. You can buy that at walmart. And over time it will go away. I had mine done 3 times (bc it kept migirating out) and I don’t have any scar tissue after about a year of having it out.
i have the same thing infection in my belly button but two years ago i had surgery and they went thru my belly buton witch is an inny before surgery it was an outy, and for two years ive had the infection im sure of it.ive had them burn it that helped for a couple days. i dont know what im gonna do about that now
i gotta have the dr fix it.maybe thats why im sick alot.

ive had my belly button ring in for about 10 years it just got infected twice in three weeks i had celitus it hurt like hell i had to go to the hospital and they put me on antibiotics for three weeks now im ready to try and put it back in but everyone keeps telling me im stupid.
i wouldnt put it back in screw that i havent gone to the docter yet im gonna go hopefully tomorrow. i know i must have an infectin and this has been since my surgery i had they took out my overies and tubes. of course they went thru my belly button. right now its in pain, and red and draining a yellow to white pus shit. i actually have a hole in my belly button tha scares me. its actually a hole. and that hole drains and today it has effecting my belly inside and out but i now have a rash on my belly its really irritated. im on vicodin and fentanyl patch so i figurei shouldnt have pain. but it was explained to me that my pain meds i take are for there regular pain im already having and im having break thru pain. im gonna insist this time that they see me right away. no oe waiting i cant take it no more.
i got my naval pierced 1yr and a couple of months ago and ive switched the piercing out regularly and i bought a new ring and after a few weeks of it, the piercing hole has gotten kinda sore and watery. why?
Might be the type of metal…your body is probabley allergic and having a reaction try real silver or gold….
I have an infection and no piercing at all… Going to the Dr. today to see what could have caused it. It’s only been 2 days since I noticed the slight pain and gross swelling.

i had my belly button pierced about 5 months ago and ive got a blister on the top of my belly button, i thinks its because i caught my belly button ? or its infected im not sure and i dont want to take the piercing out incase it heals up, ive been told to use antibacterial soap however im not sure if it will work. & quite_lovely your belly button has proberly had a reaction to the piercing i got told not to use belly bars that have nickle in them because it can cause a reaction x

It’s an infection… Dr gave me a generic anti-biotic called Cefdinir and an ointment called Mupirocin… I am feeling better and my navel looks like it’s healing. Wheew… I thought it was a hernia.

im fourteen and just got back from california i went to get my belly button peirced at a tatooe shop everything they used was sterile and i watched them wear gloves my top whole is fine but the bottom is watery and so is the inside of my belly button and along the outside rim of my whole belly button it has crusties i also catch it oozzing during the day sometimes but its a clear color i just got it done about 3 weeks ago my parents dont kno and i cant go see a doc iv been to every sight im freaking out i dont kno what to do they say dont take it out cuz the puss wont drain im so scared HELPPPP
I got mines done a week ago I think it might be infected it redish on top buyt dosent hurt and it seems like my skin is eating it but when I clean it I somtimes see a milky color liquid in side is it or is it geting infected
I noticed one day that i had a red crust around my belly button so i then went to clean it and noticed it had bloody pussy stinky disharge. i went to the ER and the doc examined me and then said there was an inflamation and he prescribed me Keflex for 10 days and he gave me providone iodine towelettes and told me to put one in my belly button everyday and put dressing over it. He also did say it was a hernia. Anyway i’m on the 4th day of putting the towellettes in and it really seems to be iritated and is red and ruff feeling. Now i wonder if i should keep putting them in there or what? I’m taking the antibiotics as prescribed. Its been since last saturday and we are now tuesday morning. The pussy disharge seem to be less. Though i did have that towelette in there absorbing it which the disharge is kind of grey in color now. It still is stinky. I hope the antibiotics work though its only been 3 days really. Anyway if aybody has any suggestions on weather to keep putting them towelettes in there please share!
My daughter had an infected belly button~ no rings. It was an infection caused by urine leaking. The tube that is used in the womb to get rid of waste is supposed to become part of the stomach muscles in the last trimester. Hers did not and her bladder was still connected to the belly button and it was leaking. It can be corrected by an outpatient surgery.
Paula, it started like what you described. Did you ever get lots of bladder infections? Did you ever complain that your belly button hurt? That could be a sign. Look it up. It’s called patent urachus.

I have had my piercing for three years and so far no infection whatsoever! I found out that the goal is to keep your belly button perfectly clean for the first three months. Dont wear any tight clothing, do it IN THE WINTER, and clean it everyday for a longgg time.
Not one infection and I mess around with it all the time.

You can’t reduce scar tissue when its caused by piercing unfortunately. Once its there, its there.

Go to the emergency. If you have an infection, they cannot turn you away. They will treat you. My friend was just diagnoised with cellulitus. He doen’t know how he got it or where…he doesn’t have a ring either.

hey im asia from philippines….wen i was 16 yr taking a bath i clean my navel and its infected have blood …yellow iw..milky wet also its hurt…but i started take antibiotics….anyway all of u dont be worry it will heal it always happen to me after it heal it will coming back…try not to scratch your navel…dont used fitted short also drink antibiotics and always take your belly button dry…i am stress for this all the time and always pray…for sure if u keep your belly protected it will heal…sorry for bad english im from philippines…

Now that I have read all your comments (and complaints) I don’t feel too bad. I am 66 years old and had never have this problem. This past Saturday morning I woke up to feel something warm running down my lower abdomen. I was horrified to find out it was a bloody discharge. Icleaned the area well with a cotton ball and alcohol. A couple of hours later, it started oozing with a greenish/yellowy discharge (and it was stinky…weeewww)… so I took a cotton ball, soaked it in peroxide and pushed it in there. After a few minutes, took that ball out, and put a dry clean one in. I have done this for three days and I have noticed that, since yesterday, I have very little discharge, if any. I think this happened because I don’t normally really dry my belly button and the moisture must have caused the infection. Oh, BTW, a few days before the bloody incident, I had felt a slight pain right on the upper part of my belly button. As soon as the discharge began, the pain went away. I think I’ll live.
I’ve done something really stupid, I’ve put Savlon Antiseptic Liquid on my infected belly button. It looks better and its starting to scab, is that good or bad? No more pus is coming out either.
hey, i had my belly done about a month ago, it was fine for the first few weeks and now its horrible, its all red and scabbby and has puss coming out of it im embarresed of it!. i went to the doctors and they have put me on anti biotics they seem to work but ive not veen on them for that long. i just hope my belly looks nice for the summer holidays:)x
hi i got my belly button peirced in decemeber last year it healed fine within 3 days after getting it pierced my piercer told me not to change till about 6 months…. i changed it after 4 months it started to go red and i think it got infected … its now july and it stil isnt healing properly its still red but scabbing but it doesnt have puss coming out of it ?? its got a like a little red bubble on the bootom of it any ideas on what it is and what i should do ??
i dont have my belly button peirced but i just had crazy pain and a gray puss it hurt so bad ,,, i washed it out and put some corn starch in it .. it felt better and went away right away hope it helps someone else : )
so i got my belly pierced 2 days ago and its already itchy the only time it hurts is if im up moving a lot like going to work.. i am sure i am just thinking the worst but i just want to know that that is normal…….someone please let me know!!
thats completely normal. for future advice , it will start crusting & maybe a little red & some puss might come out. they told me not to pick anything off with your fingers , you should spray sea salt in a Qtip & take it off like that. hope this helps ( :

im with my friend and we both got our belly buttons pierced 4 days ago.on my piercing at the top if i touch it, it hurts and i noticed that a very little bit of white puss came out, so i decided to take a bath with sea salt, hopefully that will work. my friend has a bit of clear liquid coming out of hers….. can someone tell me if this is normal?? and if you think you have an infection try taking a bath and putting sea salt in it.
yeah dont worry its normal. just dont mess around with it, keep it clean, and always use surgical steel, or any other trusted metals x
Hy i have a strange thing going on with my belly button i often find it stinking real bad especially in hot weather and even had some pus like stuf in there but never had pain. i try cleaning it from time 2 time but some times it would go back to stinking in less then 5 minutes and its realy embarrassing.

Yes, pus is normal. So is very little redness and crust. Just keep doing the salt water rinses and you should be good. If it doesn’t get better, I suggest you go to your doctor.
.. Water is leaking out of mine, and my medicine is SOO crappy doesn’t do a thing accept cause cracks of weird.. yellowish skin, and The Watery stuff is usually clear looking, but the color, when it’s on a cutip is.. yellowish orangish.. I need some help, or advice..

Ive had my belly pierced for over a year now, and all of a sudden it started itching in the shower, so i guessed it was a dodgy belly bar.
I took that out, and i think its swelled on the inside cause now i cant get my old one back through it, it hurts too much, and i dont want to force it.
anyone had the same problem?
and does it heal?
and is it a bad idea leaving the belly bar out?

Okay so i peirced my own belly button:/ and im pretty sure its infected. I stuck a needle in it and i never acutally put a ring it in. But the needle was it it for a good 2 hours.
It hurts its red and its swollen a little bit. My Parents dont know and im for sure its infected..sooo what should i doo
yeah so i got my belly button pirced about like … 9 months ago at this place and i took really good care of it like i went to the pharmacie and got some stuff for it to clean, but it just started to get all gross and like i read some stuff about it online because it started bleeding and got really itchy and i didnt see anyone but it got better.. but now its still not fully heald and stil getting ll crusty nine onths later…
Can anyone give me any advice on what to do ???

I have a deep innie belly button and have had to take special care of it all my life. No problem. I try to keep it clean and dry but whenever I notice it starting to get itchy or smelly, I take a Q tip and soak the end with hydrogen peroxide and clean out my naval thoroughly which requires me to go rather deep. If it is infected it will foam but that means it is treating it so don’t worry. Dry it with a clean Q tip. Do this for a few days and your naval will heal. But watch it for early signs and if you keep doing this every so often it will be fine. I”ve been treating mine for decades like this!

Three years ago I had second child,during that pregnancy my belly button really hurt ..after the baby was born, I was in a lot of pain in my naval for about 4-5 weeks, no sleep,no anything, all day and night I was in the worst pain ever, I felt I was still in labour……I went to the doctor ,my belly button was black and blue colour…..he did not know what was wrong with me…he sent me for an ultra sound to look at my insides….this pressure burst the navel and blood and puss came out for the first time….Then the Doc gave me antibotic,this cleaned it up and the pain stopped..the pressure was gone..the Doc said it must be a hernia???…well it is now three years later..my belly button is horrible looking,it is swollen and mostly red in colour…it frequently weeps puss that smells really bad..I often wear cotton bandage on it..because when you are in work you distroy your cloths with this puss stuff…keeping it clean is a must…
PS my doctor told me 3 years ago, I would have to loose 40 lbs before I could have surgery..I had just had a baby!!!!

PSS my friends father had a belly button hernia and he 70yrs…overweight etc…and they did not make him loose any weight so not sure if that is exactly true…
