everyone always says dont use proxide when you get a new piercing all it does is clean the bacteria away so that you dont end up with an infection if it starts to swell just take an ice cube and put it on your peircing it will help with the swelling and it wont hurt as much dont try playing with it or changing it all the time it will make it harder to heal on the inside of the piercing which is already hard which is why it takes 3-4 months to heal. do not use soap because of the perfumes and everything that is in it it will cause an infection faster than what you will be told by a professional. just stick to cleaning it twice a day with proxide with a q-tip and you’ll be fine. if you clean in more than twice a day you will dry it out and more prone to infection also so stick to 2x a day and it will be just fine.

You need to see your family doctor or after-hours clinic. Inflammation, puss (green, yellow, or grey) , and foul odour are all clear signs of infection. There are many things that will help it feel better temporarily but she most likely needs antibiotics. Also, if you see a doctor they will show her the best ways for her to treat it at home if this happens in the future.
Abdominal infection is not something to take lightly, if left long enough dependant on the condition it can cause sever illness or it can sometimes even be fatal. Bacteria and infection can migrate through the bloodstream to vital organs. The last thing you want is for her to get something like endocarditis. I’m sorry, I’m not trying to scare you or even say your wife has anything worse than a minor infection, I just wanted to stress the importance of seeking medical care. I hope your wife feels better soon or that you have already gotten help with this.

See a family doctor or go to your after-hours clinic. A foul odour and/or green, yellow, or greyish puss are all clear indication of infection. They will most likely give your wife antibiotics and teach you how to prevent further infection from occurring. Don’t panic, just clean it with saline solution and take her to your doctor as soon as possible.

Do not use anything harsh. You should only be touching/cleaning your piercing with sterilized hands twice a day at the absolute most; once in the morning and once at night with spectro gel or sea salt and water (no saltier than your tears). The more you play with it and clean it the harder you are making it for the piercing to heal. If it seems like it is red and sore it is probably just aggravated from being over cleaned/ oxidized by the hydrogen peroxide you were using on it before. So keep your stress level low, take showers instead of baths for a bit, only clean it twice a day at most with spectro or sea salt and water, don’t play with it, wear clean clothes, and remember NOT to use peroxide or leave-on ointments that with only help with the growth of infection (neosporin or polysporin are bad). If this doesn’t help, you should probably talk to your piercer about switching to a titanium ring because you are potentially allergic to your current stud and it will most likely reduce your discomfort. I hope it starts to feel better soon, I know its stressful but the best thing to do is just relax, keep it clean and let your body do its job. For now if its really sore, a warm compress with help to reduce any inflammation or tenderness.

hey i got my belly button pierced 7months back and i noticed that there is a transparent smelly liquid discharging and i cleaned it with spirit as soon i saw it and i thought it will stop after that. but i was wrong its still continuing and one more thing,there is a small red skin which has come out from inside. i really do not know what should i do now….please help

hey i got my belly button piercing for a week starting tomorrow, and i noticed its been itchy, red and a bit swollen at the top and a little bit less on the bottom. no puss or anything, i just put the spray on, and cleaned it with a q tip and water, i used the water when i lifted the piercing up and down, im sorta scared because i dont want it to be infected, cause i dont want to get my piercing re done, if i have to take it out.
please help me!!

i was sick after i got my belly button..but still i care and clean it.i always took a hot shower with cethaphil soap,then after shower pour saline solution in a cotton then leave it on your belly button for 10-15mins then apply theramycin cream on both holes,i also take anti bacterial capsule.now its better for less than 2 weeks..

A week ago I woke up my belly button itched I looked at it. I saw crust in side to I cleaned it out and there was sticky stuff. Then today I last night I was about to take a shower and found a part in my belly button the looked swollen and like cut. Then today I woke up looked at my legs and they were scaly I tried to put lotion on it but it didn’t help. I dont know if this is normal. HELP!

I got my bellybutton pierced on my 18th birthday. Which was 8 weeks & 3 days ago exactly. My bellybutton had no problems with it, & looked real nice for awhile, so when 6 weeks came I changed the ring. I bought a ton of new rings & was changiing my rings daily to match my outfits lol… Anyways the other day I decided to change it cause I hadnt for awhile, but I took it out differently I took it out from the top rather from the bottom. Immediately after I took it out it started bleeding, & sweelled up real bad. It was hard as a rock too. So I tried putting the new ring in & it wouldnt go threw all the way from being so swollen. I have a huge redish purple scab thing on top of my bbutton soool I took the ring out for two days to let it heal, but it hasnt really. So I ddnt want it to close so today I put the ring in but it hurt badlyyyyy! I put the top on but its barely on cause yyou cant really see the whole ring when I put it thru… What should I do? Will it heal?
