Causes, Symptoms And Treatments Of Balanitis

Also known as balanoposthitis, the balanitis is a skin disease affecting the men only. It causes swelling and inflammation over foreskin(tip of penis) of penis. Though it affects mostly the men, in rare conditions it can affect women also causing to them same complication over their clitoris. It is a bacterial or fungal infection(also known as yeast infection) which causes balanitis. A man affected from this skin disease experiences itching, inflammatory pain and swelling over his glans. Due to eruption of this disease, the glans becomes reddish causing rash over the penis. Getting phobic of its syndromes, maximum number of men suspect it to be a serious skin disease. Those who presently are suffering from balanitis symptoms and seek to get rid of it, should go through this article and grasp what is indispensable for theirs getting rid of bacterial skin disease and making themselves immune to its onslaught.

Despite affecting a most sensitive sexual part of men, balanitis is not a sexually transmitted disease(STD). It is a poor sanitation and lack of hygiene which erupts such disease inside the foreskin. In other words, innumerable invisible bacterias residing under the foreskin cause infection over the glans which, as a result, erupts inflammation, pain and swelling over the tip of penis all around the surrounding areas developing balanitis-syndromes.

The balanitis is a painful and inflammatory skin condition which affects the men at large. Though pain is a vivid symptom, it can be absent in some people. Pain happens to be too severe to touch, that is why the affected men cant tolerate even a mildest touch of finger over their glans. The glans becomes reddish causing a vigorous itching and inflammation over penis of affected one. An affected individual cant urinate as easily and comfortably as he must have been doing before being affected from the disease. Pain over the glans increases so vigorously that affected man is forced to shed an idea of urinating for sometimes. But problem remains persisting tenaciously.

A medical research has revealed that young boys are affected at large by balanitis due to theirs tight foreskin. Unaware of foreskin’s inside filth, the young children or adolescents are easily affected experiencing swelling, inflammation and pus discharging from the tip of their penis. Moisture due to perspiration and its resultant filth perpetuating inside the foreskin causes excessive infections. Such condition requires an operation of their most sensitive part of body(penis), if problem exacebates beyond control. It is the major reason that almost all the newly born children of a community are circumcised in order to prevent glans’ infection from affecting them latter.

Causes

  • Bacterial infection over the penis.

  • Latex condoms and sexual sprays(desensitizing liquid) also cause skin infection over the glans causing the disease.
  • As the diabetic patients are more susceptible to the risk of infection, they are overpowered by balanitis-syndromes.
  • Though it is not a sexually transmittable disease(STD), sex partner’s vaginal discharge can sometimes activate bacterias to cause the symptoms.

Symptoms

Following are the symptoms of balanitis.

  • Pus discharging from penis.
  • Rashes over penis.

  • Red spots over front part of penis.

  • Itching, inflammation, pain, burning sensation and discomfort in urinating.

  • Obnoxious smell.

  • Exacerbated balanitis causes some injuries as well in a form of ruptures or clefts over the affected skin of penis which cause burning sensation over foreskin. The affected skin causes severe inflammation when washed with soap.

Treatments

Though a medical attention is must to treat the disease, it can be controlled with a regular cleanliness and application of effective antiseptic ointments. In many cases the problem goes away on its own naturally. Keep it remember that  balanitis is not a contagious disease and can be controlled only by ensuring proper cleanliness of your penis.  s

  • Keep your foreskin well clean. Periodic cleanliness with antiseptic liquid should be performed. If you experience any itching, take an opportunity to go to bathroom and clean there your foreskin well with anti-septic soap.

  • If your are diabetic and susceptible to bacterial infection, control you sugar continuing with regular cleansing of your penis. Check periodically your sugar level as well.
  • If you are allergic, avoid spraying sexual sprays over your penis before having sex with a woman. Abandoning the use of sex sprays will naturally bail you out of balanitis syndromes.
  • As infection and allergy are the major causes of balanitis, uncircumcised skin also erupts the syndrome. In such conditions foreskin should be removed through a surgery.
  • Antibiotics should be administered by the doctors only after assessing condition of affected individual.
  • Topical antiseptic ointments.
  • All the children, after three years of age, should be trained to clean their foreskin on their own in order prevent any chance of infection. [Maximum number of parents fail to impart a training on their male-child to perform cleansing of his penis seriously. ]
