I have had upper left pain for some time. I have taken notice to a red splotchy rash that in the last few months has been a constant companion to the exact spot of the pain. Last Summer my doctor did a CT Scan and said the only thing that showed up was some scarring on the lungs. This pain has never gone away - but has gotten worse. Now I cannot even lay on my left side. I am in pain constantly. He put me on Carafate and a medicine for IBS. Again, this has not helpped. I am worried it may be scar tissue from abdominal surgery that I had several years ago. When I had my gallbladder surgery in 2008 the surgeon said he had an extremely hard time getting thru the tissue and was about to do the "old" way instead of the laprascopy, but he tried again and on the 3rd try was ablbe to get thru. I am at my end, I am in tears everyday because of the pain.

I just went thhrough an episode of sever left side abdominal cramping. It had me arched so far back it was crazy painfull. I was at my Chiropractor's office doing crunches and I did alot of them and when I stopped my stomach muscles went all "waivey" on me and then it came on. My Chiro wanted to help but I told him to wait a minute and then he pushed on the cramping muscle and it helped.
I have had another episode in the past with being severely dehydrated and I never really got to see anyone for that. I feel that my diaphragm just below my ribcage goes into spasms alot. Those spasms are on both sides of my ribcage though. When I do a twisting motion, I seem to cramp up more. I am Diabetic. I did take some Ibuprofen this morning before my Chiro appt. along with my normal meds that I take in the morning.
Could all these meds have triggered this episode....????

Jackie , I hope you are feeling better !! If you have not already done so I recommend a complete blood count and imaging ( CT , MRI ) I also suffer from chronic upper left abdominal pain and have for many years .. What finally resolved the problem for me was a strict change in my diet and being vigilant about the treatment of my diabetes , my pancreas and thyroid were also contributing to my abd. pain . I am currently on three medications to control the pain and nausea the combination works very well , although at your age I do not recommend pain killers or benzodiazepines unless absolutely necessary I am sure that your Dr. has already told you that .. I also recommend that you see a Gastroenterologist .. I hope that you feel better very soon ..
