    Very helpful, thank you.
Went on vacation, put my houseplants in the bathroom tub, when we came back, 30 flesh flies were in my bathroom… grossss. at first we thought they must have hatched out of one of the plants, then I think I figured out that they came in through the shower head opening in the sheetrock. I believe we had a dead rat in the atic and the flies must have hatched, actually I cant really figure it out… anyone else have a good explanation

I believe that you got it right about what happen. Flies are also drawn to water; standing water. If the plant begin to rot because of to much water and then begin to give off a stinky smell. The flies not having any real sense blows what is dead.

Helpful hints, but our house is only 5yrs old, it’s bone dry and we keep a clean house. No rotting animals or animal waste. We have a dog who is clean and our garbage is contained. It seems to be the worst in the fall when it warms up during the day. We are surrounded by farm land, so that may be a big part of it. And they must be coming in from outside, because they aren’t breeding in the house. It gets to about -35 degrees celcius here in the winter, thank god they die off. Alberta, Canada.

I am about to go crazy bc i have been killing off about 15 flies a day inside my 3rd floor condo! Its January in CO and cold. My house is very clean with no trash or food etc. I cannot figure out where they are coming from. Is it possible they could have nested in my artificial christmas tree?
Any ideas or suggestions on how i might find the source of where they are coming from?

I have been having the same problem even in November, especially on south facing rooms. We kept spraying they kept coming, I could not figure where they were coming from as our house is clean. I did notice a lot of flies gatering on the outside wall during daylight hours, and after close inspection discovered that they were coming out from behind the soffet under the drainpipes. I spayed Raid as best I into area, the sounds of buzzing that ensued and the scramble out of droves of flies confirmed that I found the sourse. The situation has improved, but I think specialist equipment maybe needed to really complete the job. If anyone can tell me what has led to this problem I would be grateful.
