How Does Candoia Aspera Meet The Need Of Its Foods?
Though Candoia Aspera looks venomous, it is not even in the least. Being a tropical snake, it nabs strategically its prey and kills it on the spot by squeezing. It winds its body around its prey(birds, rodents or small animal) causing a tremendous pressure over the latter’s body. And the prey dies in suffocation. Adopting such predatory move the Candoia Aspera meets the requirement of its foods. Very dangerous. Isn’t it! Yes it is.
The Candoia Aspera also known as New Guinea ground boa is short in length and heavy by weight. Found at large in all the coastal regions of New Guinea and Irian Jaya the it makes the blood of people run cool by its presence. Though a Candoia Aspera looks calm and lazy, its is very nasty by and does bite repeatedly if instigated from a close range. Though some specific colors found over the body of this reptile are black, brown, tan and gold, different combinations of these colors determined by the nature bestow different look to the reptile. But heavily banded and blotched Candoia Asperas are found commonly in the dense forest of offshore regions.
Instead of chasing and thereafter attacking its prey, the Viper boa adopts a “wait and watch” strategy in capturing any small animal or a big bird. The most favorable haunts for bos are dense bushes, land heaped with leaves, muddy trenches with shallow water. Adhering to a favorable place, the it waits for its prey to approach and finding bird or animal reaching too close to it, this chunky reptile seizes upon its target winding itself around the its prey vigorously. Once the it nabs any animal or bird it becomes impossible for the ensnared creature to get itself released from a powerful clutch of viper boa. Foods Preferred By Candoia reptile are rats, squirrel or marmot.
Just after swallowing an animal or birds, the viper boa looks dormant crawling towards a safer place to let its consumed food be digested comfortably. Camouflaging itself in leafy ground, leafy branches or sludgy water, the it looks brownish or muddy just like common tropical snake. But after being washed with clean water its natural color becomes visible revealing its natural. Female viper boa is heavier than its male counterpart.
Favorable Environment
The Candoia Aspera prefers to live in an area having 80-84 degrees Fahrenheit temperature and 50 to 80 percent humidity. Winter season is conducive for breeding of Candoia species.
